Most drainage issues don't announce themselves all at once. They start with a low spot that takes a little longer to dry out after rain. Then it gets worse. By the time standing water becomes a regular thing, the catch basin has usually been struggling for a while.

A catch basin is basically the collection point for surface water in your yard. It's connected to underground drainage pipe that carries water away from your property. When debris - mulch, leaves, dirt - packs into that basin over time, water has nowhere to go. The system backs up, and your yard pays the price.

That's exactly what we're talking about here. The basin lid has been pulled and what's inside tells the whole story - packed debris filling the box, blocking flow into the drainage pipe. This is one of those situations where the fix is straightforward, but ignoring it just makes the next heavy rain that much worse.

We offer free drainage estimates because a lot of homeowners genuinely don't know what's going on underground until someone takes a look. Sometimes it's a simple cleanout. Sometimes there's a bigger issue with the pipe or the grade. Either way, you're better off knowing.

If water has been sitting longer than it should, or you've noticed your yard draining slower after storms, it's worth having someone check the catch basin first. That's usually where the answer is.
